BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - MEDSEEK, the industry's only provider of the eHealth ecoSystemTM, announced today that Spectrum Health was awarded MEDSEEK's 2010 eHealth Excellence Award for outstanding vision, innovation and performance in using eHealth technology to enhance care delivery, information access and service. The award was presented at MEDSEEK's 10th Annual eHealth Client Congress in San Diego, Calif., on May 5, 2010.

"MEDSEEK is pleased to recognize Spectrum Health for its exceptional commitment to working toward 'Destination Health,' its goal of becoming the national leader for health by 2020," said Peter Kuhn, MEDSEEK's CEO. "We are excited to acknowledge the role our solutions have played in helping Spectrum Health move closer to that goal by streamlining the care process both for staff and patients."

"Our goal is to create a robust patient experience that includes a secure connection to the patient's electronic medical record, a protected space for the delivery of specific health information, and the ability to conduct transactions that engage patients in the management of their health," said Janelle Logan, Spectrum Health's Director of Marketing and eServices. Pete Richardson, Webmaster, accepted the award on behalf of Spectrum Health CIO Patrick O'Hare.

"As we deepen our relationship with MEDSEEK, we anticipate that the eHealth ecoSystem - including consumer, patient, provider and our existing employee portal - will help Spectrum Health offer an experience that is authentically user-centric, generates positive ROI for the organization, and provides eHealth access without artificial barriers," added Logan.

"Spectrum Health is an excellent example of an insightful and forward-thinking healthcare organization that has pushed beyond the Meaningful Use checklist," added Kuhn. "MEDSEEK is proud that our eHealth ecoSystem has been and will continue to be an integral part of that effort."

Past recipients of MEDSEEK's eHealth Excellence Award includes Henry Ford Health System of Detroit, Mich., Alegent Health of Omaha, Neb., and Hamilton Health System of Hamilton, Ont.
