June 15 at the Trump Soho, U.S. Banker and American Banker will host the fourth annual The Mentor Factor, a career development and networking workshop for women in banking and financial services. The all-day leadership workshop brings together some of the industry's highest ranking women with a select group of high-potential female executives to share knowledge and advice about how to succeed as a leader in the male-dominated financial services industry.

"The Mentor Factor is an important element of The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking program," says event chairwoman Rebecca Sausner, Editor-at-Large, U.S. Banker. "Women who have ascended to the highest ranks of the industry take their responsibility to help other women succeed very seriously, and this is one way they fulfill that mission."

The Mentor Factor workshop agenda will include commentary from and panel discussions among the financial services industry's top female executives, including:

  • Keynote speaker Carla Harris, managing director and head of the Emerging Manager Platform at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. In addition to her track record of success at Morgan Stanley, she recently authored her second book entitled Expect to Win: 10 Proven Strategies for Thriving in the Workplace. Harris was ranked 18th on The 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance 2009.

  • Featured presenter Karen Peetz, senior vice president, CEO financial markets and treasury services, BNY Mellon, who will lead a presentation titled "Putting the Pieces Together". Peetz was ranked 2nd on The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking 2009.

  • Panelists Stacy Bash-Polley, managing director and co-head of fixed income sales in the Americas at Goldman Sachs, Cara Heiden, co-president of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and Maureen Miscovic, former Chief Risk Officer of State Street Corp., will discuss how the current crisis led the panelists to become more forward-thinking in navigating their businesses. In 2009, Bash-Polley was ranked 2nd on The Most Powerful Women in Finance, Heiden was ranked 12th on The Most Powerful Women in Banking and Miscovic was ranked 22nd on The 25 Women to Watch.

  • Panelist Tara Latina, senior vice president and branch manager at HSBC, along with other panelists will cover how the changing economy has forced women to adapt their career paths.

  • Moderator Barbara A. Rehm, editor-in-chief of American Banker, will host a panel featuring male bankers entitled "Taking Action: Men as Part of the Solution". They will share their observations on career, navigating the work environment, mentoring others and being mentored.
