Journal Register Company Appoints New Sales and Content Executives

New Positions Reflect Company's Digital First Strategy

The Journal Register Company, a leading local news and information company, announced today the appointment of executives in newly created sales and content positions.

The Company named Daniel Sarko as Senior Vice President of Integrated Sales; Adam Burnham as Vice President of Local Sales and Jon Cooper as Vice President of Content.

Mr. Sarko, who joined the Company in 2009 and was, until recently, the Chief Digital Officer, has both extensive digital and newspaper sales experience. Mr. Sarko is charged with ensuring the company's advertising sales initiatives are integrated across all platforms with a Digital First approach. Previously, he was Vice President and Interim GM of Philly.com, the online division of the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Interactive for The Morning Call.

Mr. Burnham, who joined the Company in 2007 as Corporate Advertising Director and until recently was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, is an experienced sales executive known for his creative and innovative sales programs. In his new position, Mr. Burnham will co-ordinate corporate wide local sales initiatives with a focus on local digital advertising sales.

Mr. Cooper, who joined the Company in 1997, has held numerous editorial positions across the Company and until recently was Director of Digital Content. Mr. Cooper is currently leading the company's Ben Franklin Project (http://jrcbenfranklinproject.wordpress.com/) during which two newsrooms will produce a website and newspaper using only free, web-based tools.

In his new position, Mr. Cooper will be responsible for all content on all platforms with the mandate to improve the Company's content offerings. His particular task will be to ensure the Company's editorial teams embrace the new news ecology in harnessing the power of open-source journalism; digital content partnerships and multiple-platform publishing.
