Big Rock Brewery Income Trust Announces First Quarter Financial Results

Big Rock Brewery Income Trust (TSX: BR.UN) ('Big Rock' or the 'Trust') announced its financial results today for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. Net income for three months ended March 31, 2010 increased to $1.7 million from $1.4 million in 2009. Management believes this increase reflects growth in sales volumes as a result of increased consumer demand, continued focus on operating costs and the positive effect of the brewery's long-term 'return to our roots' business strategy.
CEO and Chairman of Big Rock, Ed McNally, commented on the results by saying, 'We are very pleased with these results. This positive start in 2010 creates a solid footing for us to kick off our 25th year, which is an important milestone for the brewery and the Canadian craft beer industry'.
Big Rock recently announced its plan to expand the existing portfolio (family of beers) by adding a new brand in June 2010. This new addition, Gopher Lager, is an all malt lager made with Alberta two-row barley, choice imported hops and a special lager yeast, leading to its clean, crisp flavour.
'We're looking forward to bringing Gopher Lager to consumers this summer because it gives our brewing team an opportunity to do what they do best: handcraft premium, all natural beer.' added McNally.
