McHappy Day(R) Brings Smiles to Canadian Children's Charities
McDonald's Restaurants Across Canada Raise More Than $3 Million on McHappy Day

Yesterday, McDonald's Restaurants of Canada Limited celebrated another successful McHappy Day, raising more than $3 million during the 17th edition of the company's longest-running and best-known national fundraising event. The funds raised will help support kids in need through children's charities across Canada.
Including this latest McHappy Day milestone, McDonald's Canada has raised more than $7 million in the past year for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Canada® and local children's charities.
'On behalf of McDonald's Canada, I want to sincerely thank our customers, our franchisees and our crew from across Canada for helping make our 17th McHappy Day a tremendous success,' said John Betts, President, McDonald's Restaurants of Canada Limited. 'McHappy Day unites our national restaurant network with local business associates, politicians, suppliers, media personalities and other VIPs, for one simple cause - to help children in need in the communities we serve.'
During McHappy Day, more than 1,400 McDonald's restaurants across Canada donated $1 from every Big Mac® sandwich, McMuffin® sandwich and Happy Meal® sold to local children's charities across Canada. In addition, many restaurants held fundraising events leading up to McHappy Day to provide additional support.
'Giving back to local communities large and small across Canada is a longstanding McDonald's tradition,' said Betts. 'As an integral part of the communities in which we serve, we hope to make this our best fundraising year yet, not only through McHappy Day, but through the countless McDonald's fundraising events held nationwide throughout the year.'
To continue the support year-round, Canadians can help children in need and their families by texting MCHAPPY to 30333(i) to make a $5 donation to RMHC Canada.
Since McHappy Day was introduced in 1977, the national one-day fundraising event has raised nearly $32 million for RMHC, the Ronald McDonald House® program and local children's charities across Canada. In addition, McDonald's donates 10 cents from every Happy Meal sold every day in Canada to RMHC which has raised more than $27 million to date. As a result of the continued McHappy Day success in Canada, it will now be celebrated annually worldwide - uniting McDonald's restaurants around the world in support of children in need.
