Wigan Athletic 2-2 Hull City, Blackburn 2-1 Arsenal: Premiership Roundup

We had two Premiership games to look forward to on this Bank Holiday Monday as the excitement of the weekend died down and four more teams stepped up to provide some thrillers.

The first game of the day was a feisty contest between Wigan Athletic and doomed, but mathematically not yet relegated, Hull City. Wigan were the huge favorites here and were trading at very short prices on Betfair (£25 Free Bet), with few pundits expecting anything other than a big Wigan win.

That result looked to be on the cards when Victor Moses struck first for Wigan, grabbing his first goal in what should prove to be a very promising career for the gifted youngster. Hull came back though and before halftime Atkinson headed in an equalizer which was ruled out initially and then given after a discussion between the officials.

Hull pushed on in the second half and took the lead through the lively Cullen who headed in from close range with less than half an hour to play. Wigan pushed everyone forward in search of an equalizer and just as this game seemed over Gohouri managed to grab a last gasp goal with a close-range overhead kick; stealing the win from Hull who were officially relegated thanks to that strike.

Arsenal played away to Blackburn later in the day and were quick to take the lead via Robin van Persie who nodded in from a corner on thirteen minutes. Blackburn were hoping for a top half finish whilst Arsenal were already sure to place in third, and it was this extra determination that seemed to push on the home team.

They harassed the Arsenal Goalkeeper from a corner and Dunn took advantage to square things up before halftime. After the break Blackburn continued to look to distress Fabianski from set-pieces and with just over twenty minutes to play they floated a corner close to his line and Samba leaped up to beat the troubled 'keeper to the ball, scoring from just a couple of yards and winning the game.

Blackburn were 11/4 for the win on Sky Bet, who also had Dunn down at 7/2 to score; two very impressive bets picked up to round off a good day of football.
