'All Star' Loyola Researcher Graduates from ELAM Leadership Program
Newswise - Loyola University Health System researcher Elizabeth Kovacs, PhD, has graduated from a prestigious program that trains senior women faculty for leadership positions at academic medical centers.
Kovacs graduated April 29 from the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia.
Kovacs is a Professor and Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Surgery at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She also is Director of Research in the Burn & Shock Trauma Institute and Director of the Alcohol Research Program. She lives in Oak Park.
Kovacs recently was elected President of the Society for Leukocyte Biology. Her research focuses on the effects of sex, advanced age, radiation, and alcohol exposure on inflammation and cell-mediated immunity after injury. Her 150th research paper was recently accepted for publication.
