WellCare Names Michael L. Cotton President of National Health Plans
TAMPA, Fla. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG) today announced the promotion of
Michael L. Cotton to the newly created position of president, national
health plans. In this role, Mr. Cotton will lead all of the Company's
health plan market operations to facilitate the implementation of
WellCare's top priorities, with an emphasis on health care quality and
access as well as medical and administrative cost management. He will
also facilitate growth and business expansion of WellCare's health plan
businesses and work to further strengthen compliance and government
relations. Mr. Cotton will continue to report to Alec Cunningham, chief
executive officer of WellCare

Mr. Cotton joined WellCare in December 2005 and most recently served as
president, South Division, leading the Company's Georgia, Texas and
Louisiana markets. Prior to joining WellCare, Mr. Cotton was worldwide
partner and market leader for Mercer Human Resources Consulting from
October 2001 to December 2005. Before joining Mercer, he was president
and chief executive officer of Mid-Valley CareNet, a physician hospital
organization from November 1998 to October 2001. Earlier in his career,
Mr. Cotton was president and chief executive officer of AMERIGROUP
Corporation of Illinois and senior vice president and chief operating
officer of University Hospitals Health System of Cleveland. Mr. Cotton
received his undergraduate degree from Franklin University and his
Master of Business Administration from Cleveland State University.
