Liverpool 0-2 Chelsea: The Blues One Step Closer To Premiership Title

In an early Premiership kickoff Chelsea had a chance to edge closer to the title if they could take all three points away to Liverpool. Manchester United were set to play later in the day and both teams still had two games left to play, but this was deemed to be Chelsea's biggest stumbling block and if they couldn't win away to Liverpool then the doors would open for Manchester United, if they could then the title was all but theirs.

It wasn't going to be easy for the Merseyside team who struggled through Extra-Time in the Europa League midweek before falling out of the competition thanks to a late goal from Athletico Madrid. Liverpool also knew that if they could take points away from Chelsea they could be gifting the title to their bitter rivals Manchester United.

Chelsea were odds-on favorites over on Betfair (£25 Free Bet for new customers) whilst Liverpool drifted out to a tempting 4/1 for the win. The money was clearly in favor of a Chelsea victory though as the footballing world anticipated The Blues lifting the Premiership title.

Despite a tiring game midweek Liverpool looked strong. Aquilani clipped the top of the bar with a screaming shot from over thirty yards on ten minutes and then failed to seize the opportunity when one-on-one with Cech on the half hour mark. With Liverpool still in control of the match and the possession, Chelsea took the lead. Steven Gerrard attempted a back-pass to 'keeper Reina and didn't see Drogba who came out to steal the ball and then slip it into the net with thirty-three minutes gone.

Liverpool died down after the goal, almost deflated, and in the second half Chelsea extended their lead when Anelka drove a pass across goal which Lampard slotted into the net via the open legs of Reina.

Liverpool looked decent in possession but couldn't even hit the target whilst Chelsea looked capable of scoring with every attack and peppered the Liverpool goal, but this game ended 2-0 and it now looks like the Premiership Title will be a mere formality for Chelsea F.C.
