Rain has once again slowed construction for the week. Teichert are now working on the sewer line on South Reading (by Guidos) and Sutter will be closed from Decatur to South Reading. South Reading will also be closed to vehicles. This work is continuing. On Thursday, work continued on Gold Lake and Leidesdorff. Gold Lake was closed to vehicles and traffic diverted. Customers were able to park in the turntable parking lot and the parking garage.
Teichert Contruction had staff on hand to direct people to parking areas and travel routes. Friday-Sunday, work will stop on Gold Lake to accommodate Lake Natoma Inn's large events. Gold Lake will be completely accessible on 5/5 to accommodate Q'Bole's Cinco de Mayo. Teichert has had numerous issues on Gold Lake with the poor condition of the road. This, and the weather is why work is taking much longer than anticipated. Thank you to everyone for being patient and understanding!
Sutter Street from S. Reading to Decatur is keeping crews busy for the remainder of the week and Teichert are working on Saturday to help catch up after so many rain days. Sutter Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from Decatur to South Reading, and South Reading is also be closed.
The Folsom Blvd. Sutter Street ramp is open and traffic is diverted up S. Reading to Figueroa to Decatur to Sutter. Saturday work is expected to complete by 6 pm.
On Monday, Teichert plan to work on the storm drain at Leidesdorff and Gold Lake, on the south side of Leidesdorff. Sewer work will also continue on the 900 block.
Currently sewer work is scheduled to begin on the 800 block of Sutter Street starting Monday . When work begins, the street will be closed to vehicle traffic. The Sutter/Wool parking lot will still be open, however street parking in the 800 block will not be available. Businesses should notify customers. Teichert will install detour signage. When sewer work begins on the 800 block, water work on the 900 block will commence. This means both the 800 and 900 blocks will be closed to vehicle traffic.
Construction will move up the street and eventually, they will be working on every block. This is why business employees park in the parking garage, to leave street spaces for customers.
We recommend everyone park in the garage, because it is protected, safe and convenient. Many businesses are telling their customers about the easy, convenient parking in the garage, especially when they send emails and flyers.
We are working with the City on a complimentary valet parking service to be offered soon and directional signage is being created to direct pedestrians and bikers from the parking garage to Sutter Street.
All businesses are open and accessible. Many people have been coming down to see what is going on and we encourage that. Thanks to everyone for helping us get through these changes.
