Kentucky Derby Party Celebration at American Visions Art Gallery of Folsom
By Alan Gray, NewsBlaze
American Visions Art Gallery of Folsom is staging a Kentucky Derby Party Celebration - and you are invited!. This Kentucky Derby celebration is one without the horses, the racing or the outdoors, but American Visions promises their Mint Juleps will be every bit as good. The event is Saturday May 1st from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
Chef, Gino Tofanelli will be serving the Derby's infamous Mint Julep and Kentucky Hot Browns with fresh baked turkey, bacon, cheese and tomatoes in a rustic béchamel sauce.
The Hot Brown sandwich favorite originated at Louisville's Brown Hotel in Kentucky in the early 1900s. The first appearance of a mint julep in print came in a book by John Davis published in London in 1803, where it was described as "a dram of spirituous liquor that has mint steeped in it, taken by Virginians of a morning." For over 18 years, the Mint Julep has been designated "official drink of the Kentucky Derby." And at the 2006 Kentucky Derby custom-made mint juleps were available at a cost of $1000 each. The mint juleps were served in gold-plated cups with silver straws.
Gabrielle Stark, Gallery Director, said "We won't have the gold cups and silver straws, but American Visions Mint Juleps will be as good as any you've had."
