Silver Sliders Senior Wii Bowling Team From Cambridge House in Maryville Win Supportive Living Wii Bowling Championship Today in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Ill., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- <VOICE OVER> The Silver Sliders Wii bowling team from Cambridge House Supportive Living in Maryville proved today that being a "senior" is no handicap. They won first place in the Illinois Supportive Living Wii Bowling Championship in Springfield. The Silver Sliders out-bowled 37 teams from across the state to make it to the "final four."
Seventy-five-year-old Silver Slider PJ Weil was the only man bowling in the final four. Weil had never bowled a real or virtual game before, but he does recall working in a bowling alley as a pin setter earning 10 cents a pin in 1952. The tournament's overall high scorer is 92-year-old, legally blind bowler Erni Henkel, who threw (or "Nunchucked") 8 strikes in a row!
The senior Supportive Living residents bowled to share their enthusiasm for Illinois Supportive Living, an affordable assisted living option available to Illinois seniors.
