Village Green Global and Miami Dade College Launch "Train the Trainer" Program for Green Jobs
IRVINE, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Village
Green Global, Inc. today announced a one-week intensive "Train the
Trainer" program at Miami Dade College, Green Professions Training
Program, conducted by Village Green Global Founder and CEO Doug Smith.
The Environmental Evaluation, Monitoring and Verification (EM&V) program
will teach ten students - business executives engaged in various
activities building the emerging green economy - who will then form the
core MDC teaching staff for extended undergraduate and experienced
learner programs in the future.
"This hands-on, real world learning experience prepares students for
jobs auditing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, providing efficiency
recommendations, ROI analysis and sustainability reports, all of which
are becoming a staple in businesses across the country," said Dr.
Richard McMonagle, Program Coordinator, Green Professions Training,
Miami Dade College, North Campus. "This course will give our students
the skills they need for real on-the-job tasks, not just conceptual
ideas."
It is becoming increasingly critical that enterprises address and
improve their environmental impact, which creates a need to employ
trained professionals that understand energy management and have the
skills to manage it efficiently. The course, similar to the five-week
course at East Los Angeles College, covers specific skills such as
environmental management, energy efficiency, occupational health, risk
management, analyzing electrical and HVAC devices, insulation, air
quality, and techniques of on-site data collection. Students will become
proficient in calculating the GHG emissions of buildings and learn best
practices for assisting building owners to better understand how to
reduce energy costs and GHG emissions.
In January, a report by Groom
Energy identified pressure from customers and investors is the
driving force behind the $46 million carbon accounting software market.
Coupled with the cost and energy savings that result from carbon
accounting practices, this new focus produces increased demand for
tracking GHG emissions. "Ultimately, it's no longer an option.
Enterprises are now held accountable for their carbon emissions, so
proper training for these skills is a vital component as we enter this
green economy," said Smith.
Village Green Global pioneered automated environmental reporting for
businesses, and provides reporting solutions, advisory services, and
education to support better business practices and improved bottom line
performance. Its SMARTWeb
carbon emissions accounting tool enables enterprises, governments and
individuals to accurately gather and verify emission data using the
online application allowing for multiple levels of automated reporting
not possible with manual, non-integrated systems. SMARTweb has been used
for more than 6,000 environmental audits and incorporates approximately
30,000 devices in its database.
This one-week intensive training course will begin on Monday, April 26.

Professions Training Program, please contact the Miami Dade College,
