St. Louis Minority Advocacy Coalition Recognizes Care Improvement Plus With Diversity Award

ST. LOUIS, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Care Improvement Plus, a leading provider of Medicare special needs plan (SNP) solutions for chronically ill and underserved seniors, today announced that Lisa Nelson, senior director of community outreach, is a recent recipient of The St. Louis Minority Advocacy Coalition's 2010 Diversity Appreciation Award.

The award was provided as part of a ceremony the coalition held on April 16th at the Brentwood Community Center recognizing individuals who have contributed to the wellbeing of St. Louis' minority population. Nelson received the award for her work in organizing educational events for Medicare beneficiaries in Missouri suffering from chronic conditions such as diabetes and heart failure.

The St. Louis Minority Advocacy Coalition (MAC) develops outreach strategies for and promotes awareness of ethnic and minority older adults. Recognizing and appreciating the ethnically diverse populations of the greater St. Louis area, MAC works to build an ongoing "village" of intercultural communication, collaboration, and cooperation. MAC is composed of aging and health services providers from St. Louis City and County, and has been in existence since 1997.
