Comcast Cares Day Lends a Hand to Connecticut Communities on Saturday, April 24

BERLIN, Conn., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast, one of the nation's leading providers of entertainment, information and communication products and services, today announced that it expects approximately 650 volunteers to turn out for its ninth annual "Comcast Cares Day" community service program in Connecticut. This Saturday, April 24, Comcast Connecticut employees and their families and friends, along with community partners and elected officials will lend a hand at seven sites across the state.

At the same time across the country, more than 55,000 Comcast volunteers are expected to participate in this annual day of service, which is one of the largest single days of corporate volunteer efforts in the country. Comcast Cares Day is one way that Comcast helps to power dreams and demonstrate a year-round commitment to making a difference in the communities it serves.

"Each year, I am proud to join thousands of Comcast employees and volunteers participating in Comcast Cares Day projects across the country," said Comcast Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brian L. Roberts. "It is truly inspiring to be a part of such a collaborative effort that helps so many people and organizations in the communities we serve."

Connecticut communities and community partners for Comcast Cares Day 2010 include the following:

    --  Hartford: Goodwin Park - trash pick-up, spring cleaning and park
        beautification
    --  Middletown: Snow Elementary School - partnering with the Middlesex
        United Way to install the City's first "Born Learning Trail" at the
        school
    --  New Britain: Lincoln Elementary School - painting and outdoor
        landscaping
    --  New Haven: Boys and Girls Club - landscaping, painting and sprucing up
        the facility
    --  New Haven: St. Paul and St. James Episcopal Church - preparing and
        serving food through the Loaves and Fishes Food Closet as well as
        outdoor landscaping
    --  Norwich: Martin House - shampooing carpets, painting and outdoor
        landscaping
    --  Waterbury: Waterbury Youth Service, Inc. - outdoor landscaping and
        painting

This year's Comcast Cares Day is expected to attract more than 55,000 Comcast employees and their families to more than 550 sites in 39 states and Washington, D.C. In New England, it is anticipated that more than 5,000 volunteers will pitch in at over 50 different projects. Since the first Comcast Cares Day in 2001, volunteers have devoted over 1.7 million hours of service to communities across the country.

The Comcast Foundation will also provide grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of each employee and family member who volunteers on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast's community partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year. Over the last eight Comcast Cares Days, the Comcast Foundation has also proudly donated over $8 million in Comcast Cares Day grants to local community partner organizations across the country.
