Free Health Tip: To Cure Disease is Noble... to Prevent Disease is Wise!
By Steve Fisher, ND
I hope this email find you feeling your best. The U.S. Administration on Aging states: "The older population: persons 65 years or older numbered 38.9 million in 2008 (the most recent year for which data are available), and this represented 12.8% of the population.
The number of older Americans has increased by 4.5 million, or 13% since 1998, compared to an increase of 12.4% for the under-65 population. However, the number of Americans aged 45-64, who will reach 65 over the next two decades increased by 31% during this period." As many people look at growing older with trepidation, they hold out hope for ways to slow the aging process, or at least make it more graceful.
Here is one of those things we can easily do: Omega-3 fatty acids are in the news again. In fact, it seems like they are in the news most of the time as there are many ongoing studies documenting the support omega-3 fatty acids provide for healthy living.
Now researchers in The Netherlands have found that increased intakes of omega-3 fatty acids appear to decrease the risk of cardiovascular problems. You can get omega-3 fatty acids from deep cold water fish like salmon or sardines, but if you are not eating them on a regular basis it is a good idea for you to take a minimum of two grams of Pharmaceutical Grade Fish Oil and two grams of high quality Flaxseed Oil per day.
