GE's Looking Smart at the Kitchen & Bath Show

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - GE Appliances & Lighting is bringing the heat and the cool to the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show, April 14 through April 18 in Chicago. The heat? That would be GE Appliances' innovative new GeoSpring Hybrid Water Heater, a ground-breaking home appliance that can help homeowners reduce energy costs by approximately $320 per year.* And the cool? That would be GE Lighting's new GE Energy Smart LED bulb, the most innovative thing to happen to the light bulb since Edison.

Here is a brief look at some of the new products that GE Appliances & Lighting will have on hand at KBIS.

Appliance Products

The GE GeoSpring Hybrid Water Heater
The GE GeoSpring Hybrid Water Heater has already achieved many firsts since its introduction in November 2009. It was the first heat pump water heater to be ENERGY STAR-rated and be listed on the U.S. Department of Energy's website. It was singled out as first in its class by Popular Science with a Best of What's New Award. It's been put through its paces in energy efficiency pilot programs across the U.S. And this innovative new product can help the average homeowner realize energy savings of approximately $320 per year.* What's not to love? Energy management-enabled appliances
Think GE's new line of appliances look smart? You haven't seen anything yet. There are brains behind these beauties. GE's energy management-enabled appliances give the homeowner a new level of control over energy use and costs. How? By tapping into the smart grid, GE's new appliances can communicate via a smart meter with the homeowner's utility. The appliances are programmed to avoid energy usage during high-cost periods or to operate on a lower wattage potentially reducing a consumers electricity bill; however, participants can always choose to override the program and still quickly complete tasks that must be done. A year-long study by the U.S. Department of Energy showed that real-time pricing information provided by a smart meter helped consumers reduce their electricity costs 10 percent on average and helped reduce their peak consumption by 15 percent.** [More]

GE Profile Free-Standing Range with Induction Cooking
The new GE Profile 30" free-standing range with induction cooking is now available in North America. Long preferred by commercial chefs and discriminating European cooks alike, induction cooking provides superior control over virtually any recipe. [More]

New GE ENERGY STAR 29.1 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator is Big News
This stainless steel "giant" provides unmatched capacity for fresh and frozen foods, with 18 cubic feet of storage for healthy fruits, vegetables and dairy and an 11.1 cu. ft. freezer section. [More]

GE Profile SmartDispense II Dishwasher with Steam Pre-Wash
Steam pre-wash now adds even more cleaning power to the second generation of the GE Profile Dishwasher with SmartDispense technology - a dishwasher that already stores the contents of an entire 47-ounce bottle of liquid or gel detergent, dispensing based on water hardness, cycle selection, and soil level of dishes. Incorporating steam into this advanced dishwashing system, GE's dishwasher now offers SmartDispense II technology with a DeepClean cycle. The program uses steam pre-wash to help rid dishes of difficult messes, such as eggs, peanut butter and starchy foods, like rice, potatoes and oatmeal. [More]

Lighting Products

GE Fast Forwards to Future of LED Lighting
The inventor of the first visible light-emitting diode makes history again this year as it begins to show customers a 40-watt replacement GE Energy Smart LED bulb available later this year or early 2011. GE Lighting's new LED bulb is expected to consume just 9 watts, provide a 77 percent energy savings, and produce nearly the same light output as a 40-watt incandescent bulb, while lasting more than 25 times as long. Introducing the Latest Addition to the GE Reveal Family of Bulbs: New Reveal CFL bulbs produce clean, beautiful light and use less energy
Now consumers can enjoy the clean, beautiful light of Reveal bulbs with all the benefits of a GE CFL. GE's Reveal CFL light bulbs are the latest member of the Reveal family of bulbs. Reveal CFL bulbs produce clean, beautiful light that makes colors "pop" and can transform a home from ordinary to extraordinary. Like all of the products in the Reveal family, originally introduced in 2001, the light from these bulbs not only makes blues appear bluer, whites appear whiter and reds appear redder, Reveal CFL bulbs also bring out colors and patterns that may go unnoticed under ordinary incandescent light. GE Study: Consumers buy energy-efficient lighting for benefits, not looming federal efficiency standards
A study commissioned by GE Lighting, a unit of GE Appliances & Lighting, indicates that knowledge of energy-saving benefits - not 2012 federal efficiency standards that begin to phase out less efficient lighting such as standard incandescent bulbs - is the largest driver for adoption of new energy-efficient light sources, such as compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), by homeowners and rent dwellers. Over half (52 percent) of the consumers who report plans to buy more CFLs in the future say the purchase of CFLs will be motivated by energy savings. [More]

And even more innovation on display

In addition to the products listed above, GE Appliances & Lighting will also show the following products at KBIS:

  • The GE and GE Profile Topload Washers with innovative HydroWave with Infusor technology that lets consumers gently clean larger loads using less water, compared to conventional agitator models.
  • The new line of GE Air Purifiers that remove 99.97 percent of all airborne pollutants 0.3 micros or larger.
