New Map Layers Provide Users With a Dependable Tool to Prepare for Severe Weather

Weather Underground, the nation's first online weather service, announced today the addition of two new features to fullscreenweather.com. Launched in February, fullscreenweather.com has been particularly popular with web users wanting to track storms and severe weather conditions across the US; the new severe weather and tornado layers will make this tracking even easier.

The severe weather layer highlights any US county with a current severe weather alert (issued by the National Weather Service) and includes detailed information when the county in question is clicked. The tornado layer provides users with tornado warnings and a precise history of significant tornadoes that have blown through locations on the map. Additionally, clicking on any tornado icon brings up further information including photographs and archived radar loops. The new layers are easily selected under the "more" section at the top left of the screen.

"As tornado season rears its head, the severe weather and tornado layers will provide another tool at the fingertips of users to ensure safety and preparedness among our communities," said Weather Underground president, Alan Steremberg. "Fullscreenweather.com was developed to give our users the most interactive, innovative weather tracking service available and we feel confident that the new features enhance their experience."

Fullscreenweather.com also allows users to scroll across the world and zoom in to any location while viewing animated radar or satellite. Additionally, fullscreenweather.com continues to provide the most granular weather data available displaying Weather Underground's network of over 16,000 personal weather stations around the world.
