NYAutogiant.com Awards $30,000 for Slap Shot

UNIONDALE, N.Y., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- NYAutogiant.com hit the ice Saturday afternoon at the Nassau Coliseum during the New York Islanders game against the Ottawa Senators. The NYAutogiant.com Puck Shoot contest offered big excitement and difficulty, which for one lucky fan proved not only surmountable, but also drivable.

Mike Mann, of Huntington, N.Y., scored big as winner of the intermission contest which placed eight Islander "chuck-a-puck" winners at the far blue line -- 114 feet from the goal -- and invited them to hit a puck into the net. There was no goalie and the net's open face was entirely covered except for a hole, the size of the puck itself, through which the winning shot must pass.

To the audible cheer of fans, and shocked faces of the New York Islanders Ice Girls, Mr. Mann scored, winning the grand prize from NYAutogiant.com, a $30,000 credit from the dealership applicable toward any car he chooses.

Atlantic Auto Group Vice President Michael Brown said, "It was such an exciting moment, as much for us as it was for Mr. Mann. We have such a great relationship with the New York Islanders and their fans. It was a perfect opportunity for us to give the fans a real challenge and offer them such a rewarding prize which in this case was any car they wanted from us. I couldn't be happier with the results of the contest and I'm eager to do something like this again in the near future."

According to a press release posted on the New York Islanders' website, Mr. Mann said, "I followed the same idea as a golfer, just following through and aimed at the target. I was shocked when the puck actually slid through the small space in front of the goal. It was unbelievable."

Contestants became eligible to compete for the free car from NYAutogiant.com by becoming finalists in the chuck-a-puck contest: Fans purchased five pucks during intermission and threw their pucks at a target at the rink's center; the closest puck won half the money collected from all pucks purchased. The other half was donated to the Islanders Children's Foundation.
