Net2Vu Licenses CodecSys(TM) to Deliver Video Services Over Lower Bandwidth

SALT LAKE CITY, April 7/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Net2Vu, innovative leader of converging the Television and the Internet throughout the Caribbean countries, and Broadcast International (OTC Bulletin Board: BCST) jointly announced today that Net2Vu has licensed CodecSys(TM) Software from Broadcast International to optimize the video flow throughout the extended Net2Vu network. Terms of the agreement provide licenses for several systems in support of hundreds of channels to be deployed within the Net2Vu network and calls for CodecSys to be the central encoding, transcoding, and optimization platform for all of the company's authorized rich-media content services.

With Net2Vu's advanced platform, users can view the world on their TV through their secured internet connection. Net2Vu is redefining the home television experience by bringing millions of free internet video services from around the world directly to the TV -- along with the popular linear TV channels that subscribers require including movies on demand -- all of this without a computer. The Net2Vu platform transforms the TV set into a powerful multimedia hub with an unbelievable level of choice and ease in accessing digital entertainment.

Net2Vu selected the CodecSys software platform to be the core engine that processes all incoming video -- whether from TV programming or from video-based websites from around the globe. In order to efficiently aggregate the myriad of video formats in both live and file-based services, Net2Vu needed a product secured by a conditional access system that could process a variety of formats, bitrates, and quality levels in a dynamic setting. CodecSys(TM) from Broadcast International enables Net2Vu to do just that.

"We have an aggressive vision of providing advanced Internet-type services through the more comfortable medium of the television. In order to maintain the quality levels that viewers and content providers demand, we need a solution that gives us the ability to deliver multiple video formats at bandwidth rates that are much smaller than traditionally seen," said Harold Morley, Chairman. "We found that CodecSys promises the elusive goal of delivering cinema-quality encrypted video at very low bandwidth. That advanced ability, coupled with the open, standards-based software architecture of this secure platform made it the perfect choice for us"

CodecSys(TM) is a breakthrough, multi-codec video compression software platform that dramatically reduces video bandwidth requirements over satellite, cable, IP and wireless networks. By slashing bandwidth needs, CodecSys enables a new generation of applications such as Net2Vu's convergence of user-contributed video with production quality licensed video programming.

"We are pleased that Net2Vu has selected our CodecSys software framework to optimize their video content. We are seeing tremendous performance results when combined with forward-thinking providers like Net2Vu who are accelerating the combination of free Internet video services along with traditional pay TV content. And with the flexibility of our platform, Net2Vu can easily expand and upgrade their systems as they grow without having to rip out any legacy hardware," said Rod Tiede, CEO, Broadcast International.
