Folsom Police to Set Up DUI Checkpoint
Reducing alcohol-related injury or fatal accidents and providing safety to our community is a priority of the Folsom Police Department. The Folsom Police Department will conduct a DUI checkpoint Saturday April 9, 2010. The checkpoint will run from 7 PM to 3 AM, at an undisclosed location.
Thirteen Folsom Police Officers and six Citizens Assisting Public Safety (CAPS) volunteers, and a Community Service Officer (CSO) will conduct the checkpoint. Members from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) may also be in attendance.
Previous DUI checkpoints in Folsom have stopped drunk drivers, made drug and other arrests, discovered unregistered or uninsured vehicles and acted as a warning to citizens to select a safe driver.
Folsom citizens are generally very supportive of Folsom Police efforts to keep the roads safe.
Funding for this program was provided by a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
