NEUSS, Germany - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Microsoft Business Intelligence luminary Donald Farmer will head up the launch of the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Community Tour and dive into the new release at a special full-day Microsoft R2 Launch Event at PASS European Conference 2010 in Neuss, Germany, April 21-23.

R2, DBA, development, and BI sessions by top Microsoft and community experts will follow during two content-packed days of Europe's premier SQL Server conference.

"As the world's largest user-run SQL Server community, we are thrilled to host the official R2 launch kick-off at our popular European Conference," said PASS President Rushabh Mehta. "Our attendees will be learning directly from the greatest SQL Server and BI minds in the industry."

"The growing reputation of PASS worldwide and in Europe, coupled with its active and vocal community, has made the PASS European Conference a natural fit for the official start of the R2 launch event," said Eva Hegemer, Microsoft Germany. "We strongly encourage SQL Server users to attend both the R2 launch seminar and the two days of sessions at the conference to profit from extensive technical education and networking opportunities."

Farmer-one of the SQL Server BI team's best-known thinkers—will unveil how R2 enables highly scalable and well managed self-service BI. Steffen Krause of Microsoft Germany will join Farmer to show how R2's Multi-Server Management capabilities help scale database operations and improve IT and developer efficiency.

Microsoft's Bob Ward and Adam Saxton will also lead full days of deep-dive learning during pre-conference seminars about DBA tools and Reporting Services.

The conference program will deliver:

  • 45 sessions by top industry speakers
  • Networking with hundreds of MVPs, experts, Microsoft employees, and peers
  • Face-to-face support from Microsoft CSS and SQLCAT
  • Answers to attendees' pressing questions from SQLCAT and top-level MVPs

See the Microsoft R2 Launch website and the PASS European Conference website for a complete agenda and registration details.
