Somali Pirates Capture MV Iceberg 1 Outside Aden Port

ECOTERRA today reported that MV Iceberg 1 was captured by pirates outside Aden Port.
The ship's owners reported to NATO that pirates boarded the roro vessel MV Iceberg 1 and hijacked her today, 10 nautical miles from Aden Port, Gulf of Aden. This vessel has 24 crew members. ECOTERRA reports the hijackers are now sailing the vessel towards the Somali coast. A full report is awaited.
ECOTERRA issued the following advisory to all captains.
"Pirates boarded and hijacked a vessel in the Gulf of Aden. They took hostage 24 crew and are now sailing the vessel towards the Somali coast. Further report awaited. All ships are advised to be cautious.
While navigating in the region, vessels are urged to operate at a heightened state of readiness, maintaining strict 24 hours anti-piracy visual and radar watches, actively implement recommended anti-piracy measures and regularly report their position/course/speed to UKMTO.
Early assessment / detection will allow ships to take evasive measures to prevent boarding and request for assistance.
All attacks and suspicious sightings including possible pirate mother vessel towing skiffs should be reported.
