The game, which can be played individually or connected via Bluetooth with up to four people, aims to reinforce key elements of the PRINCE2® Foundation course by testing the users with prompted questions within a familiar gaming environment. The new application is available through the Apple App Store at a retail price of £4.99.

Eddie Kilkelly, Chief Operating Officer at the ILX Group, commented, “Our team of developers at ILX are always striving to bring innovative ideas to our customers and engaging content to our learners. With the ILX PRINCE2 Snakes & Ladders App for the iPhone and iPod Touch, we think we’ve really hit the mark. Based on the traditional snakes and ladders board game, this highly engaging mobile learning product provides learners with the opportunity to test their PRINCE2 level knowledge in a fun and entertaining environment.  Revision could never be easier - whether it’s travelling on a train or waiting at an airport.”

How the game works

ILX’s PRINCE2® Snakes & Ladders includes 60 foundation level questions which are randomly selected as a player progresses through the game.  The questions must be answered correctly to go up a ladder or to avoid sliding down a snake. Learners have the opportunity to avoid the perils of the snake by playing one of their ‘Snake Cards’ which provides the correct answer and saves the learner from being eaten by a snake!

Key features of the ILX Snakes & Ladders application include:

  • Game based PRINCE2®  Foundation Exam revision tool

  • Multiplayer and/or group play options

  • Choice of character selection and switchable sound effects

  • Post your high-scores to Twitter and Facebook social networking sites

  • In-app purchase of an additional question pack containing a further 60 official PRINCE2 2009 exam questions

Kilkelly adds, “One of the most important aspects of learning is to feel confident in the exam, and this game provides a fun alternative to PRINCE2 Foundation exam practice and provides a valuable companion to e-learning and classroom learners. Initial feedback has shown that there is improved knowledge retention through engaging game play.”

PRINCE2® is a process-based approach for project management, providing an easily tailored and scalable project management methodology for the management of all types of projects. The method is the de-facto standard for project management in the UK and is practised worldwide. To date, ILX Group has trained over 35,000 people in PRINCE2® across 16 countries Worldwide and is recognised as a world class provider of PRINCE2® and management training.
