President Obama Congratulates The People of Tunisia for 54 Years of Independence
On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of Tunisia as they celebrate 54 years of independence.
This is an opportunity to honor Tunisia's history and culture. And on this special day, I reaffirm the commitment of the United States to support the aspirations of the Tunisian people for an independent, democratic and open Tunisia and a peaceful and prosperous future.
Ties between our two nations extend back over two centuries, and it is our hope that those bonds will endure well into the future. We look forward to strengthening the partnership between our governments and the friendship between our people, working together on issues of common concern and shared responsibility.
