Kaine: Jobs Package Will Ease Burdens On Struggling Businesses and Create Jobs for Unemployed Americans

"Today we took another important step towards creating long-term job growth and economic stability. Just over a year ago, this country faced the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, losing hundreds of thousands of jobs each month. With passage of the HIRE act, Congress has answered the President's call to create work for unemployed Americans by investing in tax breaks for employers who hire new employees while boosting highway and transit projects across the country. And, today I am proud to congratulate President Obama on signing this essential legislation.

"The President and his Administration are working tirelessly each day to create jobs and economic opportunity for more Americans. While much still needs to be done to ensure that every American who seeks work has the opportunity to find a job, the passage of today's bill marks yet another crucial step in the President's ongoing effort to put Americans back to work. The proposals within this legislation will help small businesses hire employees and make long term investments while also providing billions of dollars in infrastructure investments across the country. The President and Democrats in Congress have been working hard on behalf of American workers; passing a Recovery Act that has saved or created millions of jobs; working to enact financial reform to protect consumers from the greed of Wall Street; passing credit card reform to protect consumers; ensuring equal pay for equal work for women and men and working to pass health insurance reform that will help small businesses, workers and families alike. Today's passage of this jobs continues our strong commitment to put American families and small businesses first and getting our country back on the right track."
