Ambius, the Global Plantscaping Leader, Reports That Compact Plants Dominate Spring 2010 Workplace

As we approach the first day of spring on March 20th, Ambius, www.ambius.com, the world's leading provider of plants for the workplace, reports that the fashion in workplace greenery for spring 2010 favors clean and lean looking foliage. "We see a general trend with clients this spring that favors compact and neater looking plants which are colorful but not overly large," says Todd Ferguson, Area Managing Director for Ambius.

Ambius reports that the top five most requested workplace plants and plant varieties for the American marketplace for the spring 2010 season include Dracaena Jade Jewel, which is a medium compact variety of the dragon tree available in striking colors; Spathiphyillum Viscount, a hybrid from the Peace Lily family which features a unique leaf and striking flower; Dracaena Marginata Braid Open Weave, which sports lush foliage and a unique breaded stem; Bromeliads, a colorful family of plants which brighten the workplace; and the Dracaena Lemon Surprise, which has brightly colored elliptic leaves with lightly curled edges which grows compactly.

"Plants, whether they are small, medium or large in size, are good for the building and its occupants in a number of subtle ways and are an important element in providing a pleasant, tranquil environment where people can work or relax," adds Ferguson. "Because plants have a large surface area and exchange water and gases with their surroundings, they have a unique ability to tackle many environmental problems in the workplace. In particular, plants help reduce levels of carbon dioxide, which can accumulate in buildings from the breathing of its occupants and the by-products of heating systems and electrical equipment."
