More than $4.8 Million Raised During Two-Day Univision Radio Event to Help St. Jude Fight Childhood Cancer

MEMPHIS, Tenn., March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Thanks to the efforts of Univision Radio and thousands of listeners around the country, more than $4.8 million in cash and pledges were raised during the annual "Promesa y Esperanza" (Promise and Hope) benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®, one of the world's premier pediatric cancer research centers. Loyal listeners of Univision Radio, the leading Spanish-language radio group, joined the fight against childhood cancer by pledging a monetary donation during the radiothon, which took place on March 4-5 in cities including Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and Puerto Rico.

During the two-day radiothon, listeners of Univision Radio in communities around the country became Angeles de Esperanza (Partners in Hope) with a monthly $20 donation. Thanks to these donations, St. Jude will be able to keep its promise that no child is ever denied treatment because of a family's inability to pay. Also, these donations will help support the groundbreaking research conducted at St. Jude.

St. Jude patients joined Univision disc jockeys in radio booths across the country to share their story with listeners and volunteers. Stars from the Latin music world who also joined and supported the St. Jude mission included singers Thalia, Luis Enrique, Luis Fonsi, Victor Manuelle, Huey Dunbar, Pee Wee, Herencia de Tierra Caliente, Sergio Antonio, Giro Lopez, Tati, Diana Reyes, Joey Montana, Rick Orozco, Jenny Rivera, Christian Chavez, Gloria Estefan, Don Francisco, as well as some of Univision's most popular television personalities, including Raul Gonzalez from "Despierta America" (Wake Up America), Raul Molina from "El Gordo y La Flaca" (The Scoop and the Skinny), and Marisa del Portillo from "Escandalo TV" (Showbiz TV). Also, Univision Radio's most popular radio personalities gave their time and talent to help the children of St. Jude, such as El Piolin, la Dra.
