The Florida Private Company Index Fund Seeks Florida Companies for Investment

  Share With Friends

CHICAGO, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Florida Private Company Index Fund (www.PrivateCompanyIndex.com) announced today that it is seeking a varied array of Florida companies for investment, creating a broadly diversified "index" portfolio of Florida-based companies. The fund is managed in conjunction with a collection of other Private Company Index funds--each focusing on a specific geographic or industry sector.

The Florida Fund has structured a revenue-oriented formulaic investment model focused on a broad grouping of companies representing a variety of industry sectors that are geographically spread throughout the state. Capital investment from the fund will be equal to 10% of a company's historical annual revenue. In exchange, all issuing companies will distribute 2% of their monthly revenues, for a 10-year period, back to the fund--per a TIGRcub® structured agreement. TIGRcubs® are Top-line Income Generation Rights Certificates and function by exchanging an agreed percent of revenues, over a period of time, for an upfront capital investment.

Stephen H. Watkins, founder of the Florida Private Company Index Fund, notes that fund transactions are designed to be supplemental to a company's existing capital structure. The TIGRcub® is subordinate to existing senior debt, therefore works in collaboration with commercial banking relationships. TIGRcub® issuances are revenue based, as opposed to equity, making fund participation non-dilutive to a company's existing shareholders.

According to Watkins they "have a series of companies aligned for the fund portfolio today, most of which are introductions through investment banking contacts. Frankly, though," he adds "the fund is intended to be so broad that we need to move beyond the deals being brought to us. We're getting the word out so companies can contact us and express interest. Our team is working to assemble a large group of companies into a portfolio that is truly representative of the business landscape of Florida, an investable index into the private companies of the state."
