Police said one Mohammad Afzal Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi slipped into the trench adjacent to his residential house at Tantraypora village, some 50 odd kms south of Srinagar last evening.
"After he slipped into the trench, his family members cried for help. Their neighbours rushed to the spot and two youth jumped into the trench to rescue the trapped man. However, all three men died in the trench because of suffocation," a police official said.
