Dice The Folsom Police Horse Retires to Commit More Time to Charity
After living the Rock Star lifestyle on the National Harness Racing Circuit, Dice the race horse chose law enforcement as a second career upon his retirement. Now, after five years galloping a beat, Dice (the police equine) again has changed tracks, dedicating his life to working with children and the disabled.
Dice served the Folsom Police Department for five long years, patrolling with his partner Sergeant Dirk Regan. When the rigors of the concrete jungle began to wear on his professional harness racing injuries, Dice retired to the Grace Foundation to work as their favorite mount in the Therapeutic Riding Program.

"Dice logged hundreds of hours in service to the citizens of Folsom during the 5 years I rode him. He was a great partner...aggressive in enforcement action but especially gentle with children. He was uniquely and perfectly suited for his new job at the Grace Foundation" said Sergeant Regan, supervisor of the police department's mounted unit.
The Grace Foundation of Northern California is an equine rescue and rehabilitation facility located in El Dorado Hills. The foundation provides critical care and rehabilitation for abused and neglected horses and utilizes rescued horses for equine assisted learning and therapeutic programs for youth and children. The Grace Foundation's goal is to protect, care for, and heal these two important groups - children and abused/neglected animals.(www.thegracefoundationofnorcal.org)
