Bangladesh Army Chief Visits Leh in Kashmir

Srinagar, March 16: Chief of Army Staff Bangladesh Army General Mohammad Abdul Mubeen visited the strategically located mountainous Leh region of the Indian administered Kashmir and interacted with senior Indian Army officers.
General Mubeen is the first army chief of an Islamic country to visit the Leh region of Kashmir. The General was accompanied by Mrs. Begum Syeda Sarifa Khanom and a delegation of four Bangladesh Army Officers.
The Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh Army was briefed by senior Indian army officer Lt. General S.K. Singh on the various commitments of the Army, peculiarities of operating in the extreme high altitude terrain of the Himalayas and the various developmental projects under taken in the remote region of Ladakh.
The General also visited Shanti Stupa, an iconic landmark in Leh city, where he interacted with the Head Lama, who briefed him on the rich cultural heritage of the region and presented traditional Buddhist scarfs to the Bangladesh Army delegation.
"This visit at Leh has played a significant role in promoting and strengthening the bonds of friendship, mutual trust and confidence between the two armies and the countries," an Indian army spokesman said.
