Liverpool 4-1 Portsmouth: The Reds Finally Find Their Feet

Liverpool were hoping to end a poor run of form with a match against bottom of the table Portsmouth tonight and with odds as short as 1/4 for a Liverpool win (courtesy of Bet365) it was clear they were well favored to beat a troubled Pompy team.

After some terrible results and performances the Liverpool fans have felt dejected of late and as this game kicked off Anfield was very quiet. Liverpool did look strong but the fans didn't seem to settle until the goals started to flow, and when they flowed it didn't look like they would stop.

Torres grabbed the first when tapping into an open goal after a disastrous Pompy error. Babel struck the second and Aquilani nicked the third, and his first, as Liverpool took a 3-0 lead to half time.

For the In-Play pundits there was little left in this game, the In-Play markets at Bet365 were only offering odds of 2/7 for Liverpool to nick the fourth, with Pompy @ 9/2 to make it 3-1. Most bets were essentially off for the majority of the pundits though as this game was only going one way and it was doing so on a train of goals.

Anfield remained somewhat quiet in the second half as both teams shared a decent amount of possession. After seeing 3 goals in the first half it took us nearly thirty more minutes of play before Torres struck his second and Liverpool's fourth. Portsmouth grabbed a deserved consolation goal with a few minutes left when Belhadj latched onto the end of a cross to drill the ball past a beaten Reina.
