The Black Swan Group: Saving Your Brother's Life - What an International Kidnapping Negotiation Can Teach Your Business

Aaron Onglingswan of Nutrilite, the nutritional supplement firm, will be the guest speaker on March 22, 2010 for a business negotiation class in the Evening Program for MBAs taught by Christopher Voss, Adjunct Professor of the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. Mr. Voss is also the CEO of the Black Swan Group, a strategic business advisory firm that focuses on negotiation.

Aaron Onglingswan's brother Alastair was kidnapped in the Philippines in January of 2004 by a serial kidnapper/murderer, who threatened to dismember Alastair if a ransom wasn't paid. Aaron successfully negotiated with the kidnapper during this tense 21 day period, supported by his family and an FBI hostage negotiating team led by Christopher Voss. Alastair was ultimately rescued by the Philippine National Police when enough information was developed during the negotiation to identify and locate the kidnapper. Aaron's negotiation was credited by the FBI agents involved in the case as being the key factor that saved his brother's life.

Christopher Voss is a 24 year veteran of the FBI and served as the FBI's lead international kidnapping negotiator from 2003 - 2007. After his retirement, and just prior to becoming an Adjunct Professor at the McDonough School of Business he taught negotiation at Harvard University.
