iCAD Takes Leadership Position in Meeting the Need for Accredited Educational Initiatives on Prostate and Breast MRI Imaging Technologies
NASHUA, N.H. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - iCAD, Inc. (Nasdaq: ICAD), an industry-leading provider of
advanced image analysis and workflow solutions for the early
identification of cancer, announces upcoming educational initiatives for
physicians who diagnose and treat patients with breast and prostate
cancers. iCAD has provided a grant to ICPME for a comprehensive
educational webinar series. These accredited educational webinar
sessions will be offered throughout 2010 with presentations by expert
clinical faculty from leading institutions across the country and are
designed to:
-
Educate clinicians on the indications for use of MRI with prostate and
breast cancer
-
Detection
-
Diagnosis
-
Staging
-
Treatment planning and monitoring
-
Provide a detailed review of MRI images including case interpretation
-
Review the technical aspects of breast and prostate MRI exams
-
Guide clinicians in how to use MRI and advanced image analysis
technology as part of the overall interpretation and standardization
of reporting.
Four key areas have been consistently identified relative to prostate
cancer MRI education and training; these include MRI indications and
technique, MRI for cancer detection and localization, MRI for treatment
planning and therapy monitoring, and future and evolving applications of
prostate MRI. The prostate webinar series, "Common Practices in Prostate
MRI," will include didactic lecture and case review.
Additionally, some of the nation's leading radiologists will deliver,
"Decisions in Medical Imaging," a breast MRI webinar series. Based on
recent evidence on the efficacy of breast MRI screening in high risk
patients, the American Cancer Society issued guidelines for the early
detection of breast cancer which include MRI. Additionally, MRI is
emerging as an important tool in the treatment of breast cancer patients
to evaluate the extent of disease, assess tumor response to neoadjuvant
chemotherapy, and for surgeons in preoperative planning. This program
brings to learners the opportunity to view a variety of breast MRI cases
as expert faculty share their experience and approach to breast MRI in
their own breast MRI practice.
"As a leader in advanced image analysis MRI solutions, iCAD is focused
on continuing its educational initiative to improve the general
understanding of how imaging protocols support earlier detection, better
patient care and improved outcomes," said Ken Ferry, President and CEO
of iCAD. "ICPME is a recognized leader in educational activities
designed to improve practice performance and patient care. We look
forward to working with them to provide valuable educational resources
to clinicians who want to adopt MRI into their practices as this
advanced imaging technique, when used with a quantitative image analysis
software solution, has been proven to show improvements in cancer
detection, treatment planning and management."
