YoNaturals Healthy Snack Vending Savors A Growing Idaho Market
BOISE, Idaho - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The trend toward healthier eating is finding its way to Idaho by way of
Southern California -- that not uncommon source of lifestyle
revolutions. With each new headline about the perils of junk foods and
their fatty, empty calories Idahoans seem to be increasingly reaching
the conclusion that yesteryear's junk food snacks and soft drinks have
overstayed their mountain welcome.
Even in rugged Idaho, it seems carbohydrates and fat are suffering from
an image problem.
Which is delicious news indeed for healthy vending leader YoNaturals --
now seeing their trademark, sassy-looking machines and colorful snack
offerings devour an increasing share of the Idaho vended food market.
New YoNaturals food and beverage machines debuted this month in The
Ambrose School, Idaho Arts Charter School and Dance Arts Academy, all
located in Meridian -- thereby adding to a surge of recent expansion by
YoNaturals in Boise and other communities of the Snake River Valley.
"There's been a societal sea change in attitudes toward nutrition across
the country," says YoNaturals general manager Jolly Backer. "And we're
finding that being the recognized healthy vending leader is a very
advantageous position -- even in backwoods Idaho."
Backer notes that YoNaturals' nationwide distribution system now reaches
far beyond major urban markets and that the company, in just a few short
years, has become able to service demand from virtually any area of the
country.
YoNaturals offers extensive startup support to local vendors along with
over 600 reduced fat, salt and sugar vending entrees. Many of them, such
as Clif Bar, Pirate's Booty, Stacy's Pita Chips, Horizon Organic milk
and Apple & Eve's FizzEd juices are already top sellers in the retail
market. YoNaturals plans to also introduce its own lower-priced, private
label snack brands. Schools, health clubs and medical centers form the
vanguard of its healthy vending clients and particularly benefit from
the healthy cachet the YoNaturals vending machines deliver.
David Goodwin, headmaster at The Ambrose School, reflects that, "Though
we had avoided installing food vending machines precisely because of
nutrition concerns, the YoNaturals mission of healthy vending caught our
eye and made possible the installation of something we in fact very much
needed. Kids and parents have reacted favorably, and we are no longer
uncomfortable with the notion of vended snacks."
Goodwin notes that though many top-selling organic brands were initially
unfamiliar to local kids -- taste has since won out, and parents who
read content labels are well pleased.
