FairPoint Yellow Pages and White Pages to be Combined into One Book Again
BURLINGTON, Vt. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The Vermont Public Service Board has reversed its ruling from 2005 that
required SuperMedia
LLC to separate the FairPoint Yellow Pages and the FairPoint®
White Pages directories in Vermont. The directories will be combined
into a single telephone directory beginning with distribution of new
books in May.
"Consumers have been asking us to switch back for years," said Todd
Sanislow, regional vice president at SuperMedia. "It has long been our
position that requiring us to publish separate White Pages and Yellow
Pages directories was not the best solution, as it is less
environmentally friendly and also put us at an unfair disadvantage with
our competition. We are pleased to provide the convenience of having
both Yellow Pages and White Pages listings in the same directory once
again, and the additional enhancements of the SuperGuarantee program and
a larger font size."
Enhanced Directories with Larger Font and SuperGuarantee Benefit
SuperMedia is also increasing the size of the type used in the FairPoint
directories making them easier to read and find local businesses in the
area. In Vermont, directories that will be combined and have an
increased font size include the St. Johnsbury, Newport, Burlington,
White River Junction, Rutland, Bennington, Brattleboro, St. Albans, and
Barre FairPoint Yellow Pages directories. In Massachusetts, the Berlin
and Lancaster FairPoint Yellow Pages directories will also be combined
and have an increased font.
The one-of-a-kind SuperGuarantee program, a national
consumer guarantee initiative designed to lower the risk with hiring
contractors, plumbers, auto body repair shops and thousands of other
service-based businesses, will also appear in the new directories. If a
consumer is not satisfied with the service provided by a participating
SuperGuarantee business, SuperMedia will work to resolve any issues or,
if unable to resolve the issue SuperMedia will reimburse the consumer up
to $500 of the cost of labor for the service.*
"For the first time in years, we are seeing increases in the possession
and usage of our directories," said Sanislow. "We receive more and more
positive feedback from consumers and clients who are seeing the benefits
of the SuperGuarantee as it provides consumers with a boost in
confidence and clients with an instant competitive advantage."
In Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, SuperGuarantee companies, indicated
by the SuperGuarantee shield, are found exclusively in FairPoint Yellow
Pages directories, Superpages.com,
and SuperpagesDirect
direct mail products. The SuperGuarantee program is free for consumers
and offered at no additional charge for eligible clients purchasing
advertising. Clients qualify for the SuperGuarantee program based on
heading, category, and ad program.
Recycle Outdated Directories
SuperMedia encourages residents to recycle outdated directories in
curbside recycling containers. If you don't have curbside recycling,
to find a recycling center near you.
Recycled directories can be used to make many products including
environmentally friendly cellulose insulation, new paper, packing
material, animal bedding, compost, tissue-grade products, wallboard,
envelopes, hydro-mulch and roll cores.
SuperMedia also knows it doesn't make sense to deliver Yellow Pages
directories that are unwanted. The problem is made worse when consumers
are inundated with directories that have nearly identical information.
While the FairPoint Yellow Pages directories are the only books in
Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont with the benefit of the SuperGuarantee,
some consumers do prefer to opt out. To opt out of directories you
receive in your area visit www.YellowPagesOptOut.com.
