Radio Talk Show Host Highlights Child Abuse Awareness Month
With April and National Child Abuse Awareness month right around the corner author, radio talk show host and president of Dreamcatchers for Abused Children, Donna Kshir is addressing the public and asking for help.
Her goal is to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect and to encourage individuals, businesses and communities to come together and support children and families in need.
Kshir and her husband, Roger, stuffed several hundred envelopes which included an introduction letter to her 501 (c) 3 non-profit child abuse and awareness organization Dreamcatchers for Abused Children, informational postcards, magnets and business cards. The duo then disturbed them to individuals and businesses throughout Pennsylvania.

Kshir has spent the last two years working to prevent or alleviate child abuse and neglect by research and promoting public awareness and education, as well as assisting in the integration of worldwide prevention efforts.
She stated, "When I first signed on as a spokesperson I thought I would shake a few hands, sign a few autographs and cut a check. I had no idea by meeting Sandra Dawn Potter, the CEO & Founder of Dreamcatchers it would forever change my life." She added, "I will never be able to thank her enough."
Her personal highlight over the two day span was visiting the Hilton S.A.F.E. House in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, which she described, "It's amazing when you can speak with a group of people that share the same views and goals. I could easily relate to them. " She added, "I could see how dedicated these women were to their cause and making a difference. They are a wonderful group of women, all whom I am proud to have met."

With many highlights over the two day span, there were also a few low points.
Kshir stated, "It's funny... people are always so ready to listen, but the very second they hear the word abuse, the red flag goes up and they become offensive. They don't understand it's not a personal attack against them... it's to help those children in need." She added, "People think it (abuse) didn't happen to me or my kids so it's not my business, but abuse is everyone's business."
Each week Kshir co-hosts Dreamcatchers Talk Radio with Laurie Ann Smith of Calgary, Alberta Canada. The show was created by Kshir and Potter, and currently the airs Tuesday nights at 6:30 EST. The talk show provides domestic violence and child abuse education, daily headlines and a feedback segment. In addition to host, Kshir is also the show's executive writer and producer.
Currently, Dreamcatchers is hosting an online auction, and Kshir is hoping the whole community will participate. All items are 100% authentic and were obtained from Anthony Nurse, Charity Fundraising Director of the Autograph Store.
Items include; autographed guitars signed by Miley Cyrus and the Jonas brothers, autographed drumheads by Green Day, autographed music records by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney, and autographed photographs of Miley Cyrus, the Twightlight Cast, Jonas Brothers, Harry Potter, Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. The auction is silent and all items will be sold to the highest bidder.
