"Since 1970, the Federal Witness Protection Program has relocated thousands of witnesses -- some criminal, some not -- to neighborhoods across the country. Every one of those individuals share a unique attribute distinguishing them from the rest of the general population, and that is ... somebody wants them dead."

USA Network's hit series In Plain Sight will begin season three on a new night March 31 at 10pm, but catch up with the second season now released on DVD. The series continues to chronicle Mary Shannon (Mary McCormack), the tough and sexy U.S. Marshal assigned to protect those in the WITSEC program while dealing with her dysfunctional personal life.

Season two starts with Mary and her family dealing with the aftermath of the previous season involving her kidnapping and her sister Brandi (Nichole Hiltz)'s involvement with a drug dealer, in which that arc continues later on when a FBI agent returns to bring both Shannon sisters down. Mary's relationship with Raph (Cristian de la Funte) goes to the next level, while Brandi also finds love this season, as they and mother Jinx (Lesley Ann Warren) learns more about their father.

In Plain Sight's sophomore season becomes a family affair with McCormack's brother Will reprise his role as Agt. Robert O'Conner, and creator David Maples' wife Holly has an recurring role as WITSEC office manager Eleanor Prince, Mary's new foil and the budding love interest of their boss Stan McQueen (Paul Ben-Victor).

Critics said the problems with season one was the underdevelopment of the supporting cast, but season two became an improvement, where an old case comes back to haunt Stan, while Mary's partner Marshall Mann (Frederick Weller) tries to save the life of one witness, and meets aging mobster Martin Landau, who became one of the first to enter the program.

The finale was supposed to be a two-parter, but ends on a cliffhanger that will be resolve when the new season starts, which will go in a different direction of less somber and more light. John McNamara has been named the new showrunner, but Maples and Paul Stupin will stay on consulting producers. USA wants In Plain Sight to focus more on Mary's job and her life be recurring yet still having character-centric storylines.

Season two is In Plain Sight ... now on DVD.
