J.D. Byrider Hires Vice President of Franchise Operations
CARMEL, Ind. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - In an effort to strengthen its franchise performance and growth,
America's largest used car and finance company J.D. Byrider has hired
Thomas L. Welter as vice president of franchise operations. Welter is
responsible for maximizing unit profitability by strengthening the
company's franchise support system, and mentoring and developing the
company's franchise consultants.

operational experience with four large national companies during his
20-year career."
During his tenure, Welter served as senior vice president, national
operations, for 24 Hour Fitness, where he led a 375-unit, $1.2 billion
operation.
Prior to that, Welter served as vice president of business logistics for
KB Home, where he was responsible for market strategy, land acquisition
review, pricing strategy origination and review, product offering and
margin improvement. Previously, Welter was a region coach for
PepsiCo/YUM! Brands, the largest fast-food operator in the world. He was
responsible for 170 company stores and 235 franchise stores, with
regional sales exceeding $575 million. In addition, Welter worked in
management with Avis Rent A Car Systems, Inc., in Miami, Tallahassee,
Houston and San Francisco.

Welter earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the
University of Nebraska - Lincoln, where he also was an academic all
American and consensus all Big 8 Conference football player. He was a

sixth-rated offensive team from 1988 to 1989.
