Dev Ittycheria Joins Bazaarvoice Board of Directors
AUSTIN, Texas - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Bazaarvoice, the market and technology leader in hosted social commerce
applications that drive sales, today announced that Dev Ittycheria has
joined the Bazaarvoice Board of Directors. Ittycheria, who co-founded
BladeLogic and led the company's successful IPO in 2007, most recently
served as president of the Enterprise Service Management (ESM) division
of BMC Software (NASDAQ:BMC) where he was responsible for a business
with $1.2 billion in annual revenue. He brings unparalleled leadership
ability and deep experience in building high-growth technology
businesses that excel at acquiring customers, delivering outstanding
financial results, and building long-term sustainable value.
"It is an honor to welcome Dev Ittycheria to our Board of Directors,"
said Brett Hurt, founder and CEO of Bazaarvoice. "Dev's unique
experience of being both a serial entrepreneur as well as leading two
different public software companies is invaluable to Bazaarvoice. We are
excited to draw on his strategic insight and deep management expertise
at this critical point in our company's rapid growth. Dev is already
proving to be a very valuable mentor for me and our executive team, and
I am truly humbled and honored that he decided to join us in this
exciting journey."
Under Ittycheria's leadership as president & CEO, BladeLogic was
recognized as one of the fastest-growing enterprise software companies
of the past decade, culminating with a very successful IPO in 2007.
BladeLogic was acquired by BMC Software in 2008 for approximately $900M,
which was the highest multiple paid for any public software company that
year.
"I worked with Dev for seven years since the founding of BladeLogic to
the sale to BMC. He is one of the brightest minds in technology, so it
was natural to introduce him to the Bazaarvoice team," said Neeraj
Agrawal, General Partner at Battery Ventures. "Bazaarvoice is one of our
fastest-growing portfolio companies, and Dev's insight and guidance will
be very helpful as the company navigates its next phase of hyper-growth,
both in the US and around the globe."
As President of the ESM business at BMC Software, Ittycheria led the
nearly 4,000 people who developed, sold, implemented, and supported
BMC's line of distributed management software solutions. During his
tenure at BMC the company restructured its sales organization and
methodology to dramatically increase sales productivity, improved its
product advantage through key acquisitions and organic investments, and
quickly positioned itself as the clear leader of the systems management
market by outperforming all relevant competition. Previously, Dev was
the president and CEO of Applica, which merged with Breakaway Solutions
to become one of the first publicly-traded SaaS companies.
Ittycheria was recognized by Ernst & Young as an Entrepreneur of the
Year for his leadership at BladeLogic, and was honored by Computer
Reseller News as one of the Top 25 Executives in Technology for his
role in creating the ASP business model, which is now more commonly
known as SaaS. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers
University.
"After spending time with Brett and the team at Bazaarvoice, I see all
the ingredients for a very successful software company -- a large market
opportunity, a leadership team with a compelling vision as well as an
ability to execute, and a highly disruptive business model," said
Ittycheria. "Bazaarvoice is growing at a tremendous rate, and there is
still so much opportunity and potential in the social commerce market.
I'm also impressed with the culture Bazaarvoice has built and the many
accolades it has received, including being named the Best Place to Work
by Austin Business Journal. I look forward to working with the
management team to help them continue to capitalize on this amazing
opportunity and rapidly scale the business to achieve its full
potential."
