New Broadcast TV Public Service Announcement Celebrates the Environmental Leadership of Public Gardens in Support of National Public Gardens Day 2010
AZUZA, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - In support of the second annual National Public Gardens Day, the American
Public Gardens Association has released a broadcast public service
announcement featuring master gardener Paul
James, host of HGTV's Gardening By The Yard. National Public
Gardens Day is a day of awareness in which communities nationwide are
invited to visit and learn about the important role that public gardens
play in promoting environmental stewardship and awareness.
The Public Service Announcement is produced in partnership between the American
Public Gardens Association (APGA), a non-profit organization
devoted to strengthening American public gardens and Rain
Bird, a leading manufacturer and provider of irrigation
products. The 30-second broadcast PSA spotlights the role public gardens
play in plant and water conservation while calling attention to the
wealth of information that is available to viewers at their local public
gardens. The PSA is close-captioned and intended to play during the
weeks leading up to National Public Gardens Day.
Scheduled for May 7th, 2010, the Friday preceding Mother's
Day weekend, National Public Gardens Day is a national day of
awareness in which the public is invited to learn about the important
role their public gardens play in promoting environmental stewardship
and awareness, plant and water conservation, and education.
"There are so many great public gardens across the nation and each is a
great source of inspiration and knowledge for homeowners to apply to
their own residential landscapes," said Paul James. "It is important to
recognize that most public gardens are more than just beautiful places
to spend a Sunday afternoon. They also play an important role in the
advancement of environmental stewardship, education and plant and water
conservation within the communities they serve."
Created in partnership between the American
Public Gardens Association and irrigation product and service
provider Rain
Bird, National Public Gardens Day will showcase the contributions of
public gardens with special events and activities for schools, families
and thousands of visitors at many of the more than 500 North American
public gardens.
