New Mexico Hunting Land Auction Near Corona and Cibola National Forest Set

A major auction of hunting land and ranch land in New Mexico will feature 7,320 acres of Lincoln County land near Corona, N.M. The land sale will be held Tuesday, March 30, with Westchester Auctions managing the sale. The Southwest recreational land near the Cibola National Forest will be sold in five tracts, ranging from 640 acres to 2,560 acres. It includes 6,880 deeded acres, 320 acres leased from the state and 120 acres leased from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

"This is an area that is known for its hunting, so it will be a tremendous opportunity to purchase a property with substantial hunting potential," said Scott Shuman, of Westchester's Colorado office. "Each of the tracts is large enough for an excellent hunting tract for use by individuals, clubs or outfitters. We will use a process that enables bidders to bid on different combinations of tracts that best meet their needs. The property will sell in the combination that brings the highest total price."

Shuman said the central location is expected to make the land attractive for use by investors as well as sportsmen seeking a retreat for hunting and other outdoor activities. "The land can be reached in two hours or less from Albuquerque, Ruidoso or Roswell, and it's not always easy to find that much quality hunting land in a convenient location," he said. The auction will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino in Mescalero. Auction personnel will be available for inspections Tuesday, March 16.
