BVR Hosts Experts Matthews and Wachter in Presentation on Contentious Area of Implied Minority Discounts
PORTLAND, Ore. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Business
Valuation Resources, LLC (BVR) is delighted to announce "Implied
Minority Discounts in Statutory Fair Value: The Doctrine that Just Won't
Die," a 100-minute teleconference on March 19 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific.
Included in the panel are Gil Matthews, a nationally recognized
valuation expert and Senior Managing Director of Sutter Securities,
Inc., and Michael Wachter, Co-Director of the University of
Pennsylvania's Institute for Law & Economics.
During their presentation, Matthews and Wachter will show how the
Delaware Chancery Court, the nation's premier business court, has come
to hold a view of minority discounts that conflicts with that of top
experts in the field. Their presentation will highlight contentious
issues that have long been growing within the business appraisal
community, and will surely force many appraisers to reexamine how they
approach the subject.
"Minority discounts have long been a grey area in the business appraisal
process and appraisers have always looked for any guidance they can
find," said Lucretia Lyons, President of BVR. "With top experts on one
side and the court on the other, BVR is very excited to welcome Gil and
Michael for this presentation. It addresses a topic of concern that's
long been building in the profession."
"Implied Minority Discounts in Statutory Fair Value: The Doctrine that
Just Won't Die" will be the latest installment in BVR's
ongoing teleconference series. In addition to the information and
insights provided during the presentation, attendees will receive
additional ancillary reading materials from BVR's extensive library and
database, and will be eligible to receive two continuing education
credits in the field of accounting (CPE).
