SANYO Twin Guard Series(TM) Is the First -86 C Ultralow Freezer in North America to Offer Dual Cool Technology
2 Independently Operating Refrigeration Systems for Failsafe Protection of Sensitive Samples

SANYO North America Corporation (SANYO)
Biomedical and Environmental Solutions Division introduces the Twin Guard
Series MDF-U500VXC, the first 18.3 cu.ft., -86°C Ultralow Temperature Freezer to be offered and sold in North
America with Dual°
Cool technology. Unlike traditional cascade systems, Dual° Cool
operates as two refrigeration systems with two individual compressors,
each purpose-built to operate independently in the unusual event of an
unexpected failure. Combined with optional liquid nitrogen or liquid
CO2 back-up systems, the user is ensured unmatched protection. The Twin Guard Series is
designed to preserve even the most sensitive, high-value
biologicals and is ideally suited for critical storage in repositories,
clinics and medical research facilities. Featuring the twin guard
refrigeration system, energy saving modes, and advanced controls and
monitoring, the MDF-U500VXC is available through SANYO Biomedical sales
representatives.

Chris Stannard, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, stated, "When
preserving the research of a lifetime, the only option is double backup
protection. The Twin Guard series with Dual° Cool technology
represents the most extensive and creatively designed refrigeration system
in the industry, continuing SANYO's core strategy of providing innovative
cold storage technology to the life sciences market."
Twin Guard Refrigeration System
Advanced Dual° Cool technology allows the unit to operate as two
independent refrigeration systems with two independent compressors and
mixed refrigerant autocascade (MRA) cooling systems that are each capable
of maintaining ultra-low temperatures. Purpose-built as a fail-safe
mechanism, the two independent refrigeration circuits include a closed-loop
evaporator configured to parallel the other. In the unlikely event of one
malfunctioning, the other is automatically deployed for continued operation
at -65°C. Embedded evaporator coils are oriented to provide the best
temperature uniformity at all inventory levels, top-to-bottom and
front-to-back.
"The MDF-U500VXC adds an important element to the product lineup. Known for
superior reliability, SANYO developed the Twin Guard series to provide
multiple layers of protection for high value biologicals. When combined
with optional liquid nitrogen or liquid CO2 back-up systems, SANYO leads
the way in sample security," explains Matt Siebert, Product Development
Manager.
Energy Saving
EcoMode is a
settable option that optimizes energy consumption by orchestrating run
times for each refrigeration system in response to cooling demands. In
addition, SANYO's patented VIP vacuum panel cabinet maximizes interior
storage space, while reducing laboratory footprint.
Advanced Control and Monitoring
An integrated microprocessor controller with LCD graphical display allows
for utmost control and performance monitoring at a glance. Uniform
ultra-low temperature is achieved through a combination of performance
systems supervised by the controller complete with alarm, programming and
diagnostic protocols.
