Aerial Demonstration of a New, Environmentally Benign Soil Stabilizer

MESA, Ariz., March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- You've seen it done every forest fire season as fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters rush to combat fires by dropping water, foams and fire retardants.

Now, what if the same methods could be applied in advance, to disturbed soil that causes the massive dust storms, using an entirely new and ecologically responsible product?

On the morning of March 16th, at 10:30am in Mesa, at the development site on the Northeast corner of Ellsworth & Elliot in Mesa, Arizona, EnsSolutions, Evergreen Flying Services and National Land Management will join forces to demonstrate the effectiveness of an aerial application using the next generation of soil stabilizing emulsion, T.O.P.(TM)

The unique and effective emulsion is manufactured by EnsSolutions from tall-oil-pitch (pine pitch), a secondary product of wood. It is a remarkably durable and affordable dust control and soil stabilization agent. Critically, it is environmentally benign.

In toxicity testing, it performs in a range that is unapproachable by any other product in the market today, making it the next generation product of choice for reducing the PM-10 pollution problem while using the cleanest material possible. Its use in building projects can earn LEED points as well, for certification.

The demonstration is designed to show how this uniquely clean material, T.O.P.(TM), can be one part of an overall response to the freeway dust storm problem confronting the state. These storms cause major disruptions and tragically result in an average of 5 deaths a year. As the demonstration will show, it can be applied by air to stabilize specific acres of land and disturbed ground material, in a very short period of time making it a 'first responder' level choice to ensure public safety.

Equally effective on mine tailings, T.O.P.(TM) can be applied in days vs. weeks with precise accuracy. Utilizing Air Tractor 802's (world's largest single engine aircraft) with useful payloads of over 9,500 pounds, EnsSolutions is able to offer large scale applications of hundreds of acres per day to its customer base.

Whether it is stabilizing soils to prevent brown cloud events, treating forest land after fires to prevent soil erosion or mud slides or treating mine tailings, the combined resources of these organizations allows end users to mobilize and treat large acreage in days instead of the industry standard of weeks or months.

EnsSolutions tall-oil-pitch based products are more durable and less expensive than any other competing product today and much greener, being completely non-toxic. Meanwhile, it is estimated that there are over 6,000 tons of dust suppressants and soil stabilization products applied every month in Maricopa County alone to control dust and stabilize soils that do not meet the Ensolutions environmental standard.

Additionally, the product excels at suppressing dust from disturbed soils, sealing road shoulders, controlling mine tailings, sealing industrial waste and stock piled material, and stabilizing walking paths, unpaved roads and alleys. It also performs well in combination with reclaimed asphalt or other aggregates to produce eco-asphalt. EnsSolutions emulsion can also be used on construction sites to minimize or eliminate hazardous air borne particulate matter, improving occupational health conditions for employees and the surrounding community.

It is currently being used to construct and stabilize maintenance access roads at the environmentally sensitive Tres Rios Wetlands Project. The advantage of using EnsSolutions T.O.P.(TM) emulsion to construct the infrastructure at Tres Rios is the ability to maintain durable driving surfaces under the harshest conditions while maintaining the natural look of native materials. The roads maintained structural integrity during and after the recent 4" rain event.

The demonstration will be a joint effort with EnsSolutions (manufacturer), National Land Management (ground applications), and Evergreen Flying Services (aerial applications). The partnership developed between these organizations enables them to deliver applications under the toughest conditions ... making the trio unmatched in quality, cost and application needs.
