Atlassian Introduces JIRA Studio 2.1 - Hosted Development Suite, Integrated with Google Apps
SAN FRANCISCO - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Atlassian today announced it has added JIRA Studio to the Google Apps
Marketplace , Google's recently launched online storefront for Google
Apps products and services. JIRA Studio is a hosted
software development suite that supports every role of a
high-performing development team through all stages of the development
process. JIRA Studio combines hosted
Subversion source code management, issue tracking, wiki
collaboration, agile
project planning, source code browsing, code review, continuous
integration and more into a single experience for development teams.
"Google Apps is a great productivity suite for teams of all shapes
and sizes," said Mike Cannon-Brookes, Atlassian's co-founder and CEO.
"JIRA Studio is now the perfect complement for developers and technical
teams using Google Apps, and the integration between the two means
developers can flow naturally between mail, calendar, docs and the tools
they use to develop great software."
JIRA Studio 2.1 combines Atlassian's most popular development
tools with hosted Subversion source control into a fully-integrated,
hosted system that gets development teams up and running in minutes. The
new release adds integration with Google Apps, Google's popular suite of
business applications, which enables customers to:
-
integrate user management and single sign-on: JIRA Studio users
are synchronized with the Google Apps membership directory, and users
of JIRA Studio logon with their Google login using OpenID.
-
access JIRA Studio from Google universal navigation links: JIRA
Studio 2.1 is listed in the Google
Apps Marketplace and can be installed directly to your domain.
When JIRA Studio is added to Google Apps, it is available from the
Google universal navigation links alongside other Google Apps products
like Google Calendar and Google Docs .
-
attach Google Docs to JIRA issues: Users in JIRA Studio can
attach items within Google Docs to any JIRA issue, sending those items
through a JIRA
workflow or including them as related content to a task, defect or
issue. Anything available from within Google Docs is attachable, and
users can preview items before attaching them to JIRA issues.
-
embed Google Docs within wiki pages: Users in JIRA Studio can
attach and embed Google Docs items into any wiki page, blending
content from both systems together. Anything available from your
Google Docs window is attachable, and users can preview items before
attaching them to wiki pages.
-
embed lists of Google Docs within wiki pages: Users in JIRA
Studio can display a list of items from Google Docs on any wiki page,
sharing important project information with their team.
-
exchange gadgets: JIRA Studio is an OpenSocial container and
supports OpenSocial
Gadgets. OpenSocial Gadgets can be added to the JIRA Studio
dashboard, and JIRA Studio gadgets can be added to Gmail or iGoogle ,
which act as OpenSocial Gadget containers.
-
track activity across both Google Apps and JIRA Studio through the
JIRA Studio Activity Bar: the JIRA Studio Activity Bar is
pervasive across the entire JIRA Studio experience and serves as a
universal inbox for information from both JIRA Studio and Google Apps.
From Google Apps, the Activity Bar highlights unread Gmail messages,
upcoming Google Calendar events, recently accessed Google Docs and
Google Sites . From JIRA Studio, the Activity Bar highlights recent
activity from across the system through an activity stream, recent
JIRA issues, favorite wiki pages, build activity and assigned code
reviews. The Activity Bar also features Google Talk integration so
users can chat with team members from any page within Studio.
"JIRA Studio is an extremely useful integrated app for development teams
using Google Apps," said Scott McMullan, Google Apps Partner Lead for
Google Enterprise. "And the JIRA Studio Activity Bar is a wonderful
example of the value integrated 3rd party apps bring to Google Apps."
JIRA Studio 2.1 is available now for a free, 30-day trial through the
Google Apps Marketplace at google.com/appsmarketplace. More information
