Gardeners across Canada are responding enthusiastically to the latest offering among gardening magazines. Launched in March 2010, Garden Making aims to satisfy the need for more comprehensive information and ideas for gardeners at all levels. Its premier issue, Spring 2010, showcases a vivid magnolia on the cover with a distinctive white border and is on sale at major retailers across Canada as well as online at www.gardenmaking.com.

Hot off the presses, Garden Making magazine will be published quarterly by Inspiring Media Inc., a private company based in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The editor is Beckie Fox, former editor of Canadian Gardening magazine. Her husband, Michael Fox, an experienced magazine executive, will manage the business affairs separate from his current post as senior vice president, circulation and development with Rogers Publishing.

Canada's newest gardening magazine launched with an initial print run of 34,000 copies and each issue will feature at least 70 pages of useful, practical articles and photos about making a garden. "Our editorial approach is to provide solid information people can use to help them become better gardeners," says editor Beckie Fox, who also teaches gardening at George Brown College and has studied horticulture at the University of Guelph. "Each issue will provide readers with new and proven methods, techniques, products and ideas that will make their garden even more successful and satisfying."

Design director for the magazine is Gary Hall, a well-known name in publication design. Hall played an important role in the redesign of Maclean's in 2001 and was the deputy art director for four years.

The target audience for Garden Making includes men and women in their 30's and 40's who want know to how to enhance their personal landscape, as well as learn about how to garden sustainably and grow their own vegetables. At the same time, gardening continues to be a popular recreation for Canadians 50 and older who are spending more time and money on their surroundings.

"The interest in gardening continues to grow and our goal for each issue of Garden Making magazine is to become an essential tool that inspires readers to achieve the garden of their dreams," says Fox.

Garden Making magazine retails at $5.95 per issue and the regular subscription price for one year is $19.95. For more information, please visit www.gardenmaking.com.
