Digestive CARE is Seeking Online Votes for Top Colonscopy-Related Song Titles During National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Digestive CARE , a medical group of more than 50 gastroenterologists in Broward and Palm Beach County, today announced that it is receiving hundreds of online votes in its "Bottom Line Song Title Contest" to bring awareness to National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month (March 2010).

Digestive CARE is urging people to go to the Web site www.DigestiveCareOnline.com to vote for their favorite colonoscopy-related song title, such as "Looking Out My Back Door" by Creedence Clearwater Revival, 'Pants on the Ground" from American Idol, "I'm On the Outside Looking In" by Little Anthony & The Imperials, "Staying Alive" by The Bee Gees, "Shake Your Booty" by KC and the Sunshine Band or "Roll Over, Beethoven" by Chuck Berry.

Online votes will be accepted through Sunday, March 21, and Digestive CARE will announce the top five vote getters on Thursday, March 25.

"We are seeking the number one song title that should be on every gastroenterologist's iPod, or played over the sound system during a person's colonoscopy," said Barry Ross, M.D., a Digestive CARE gastroenterologist in Coral Springs, FL.

"Just as we did last year with our popular Bottom Line Poetry Contest that sought the best new poem about colonoscopies, we are taking a light-hearted approach to the deadly serious subject of colon cancer," said Gerardo Lanes, M.D., a Digestive CARE physician in Plantation and Pembroke Pines, FL. "With our new Bottom Line Song Title contest, we hope to bring more attention to the life-saving value of regular colonoscopies as part of a person's ongoing professional medical care - and that's the real Bottom Line."

"As part of our campaign to bring awareness to National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, if the performer of the winning song title selected by online voters is still alive, Digestive CARE will offer him or her a free colonoscopy right here in South Florida," added Dr. Ross.
