University of Michigan Health System Expands Use of Mobile Aspects Tissue Tracking System
PITTSBURGH - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Mobile Aspects announced today that the University of Michigan Health
System has signed an agreement to expand the use of its tissue tracking
solution into the Operating Room at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott
Children's Hospital. The solution, called iRISecure , uses the
unique characteristics of radio frequency identification (RFID)
technology to automate clinical workflow associated with tissue
tracking. In turn, a powerful solution is delivered to help care
providers comply with process and procedural requirements from The Joint
Commission and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the
utilization of tissue and related products.
The solution will be deployed to manage the receipt, storage and
utilization of implantable tissue and related products used for surgical
procedures at the University of Michigan C. S. Mott Children's Hospital.
The tissue tracking solution has been used within the Operating Rooms
Department at the University Hospital for over a year.
"We look forward to expanding the Mobile Aspects tissue tracking
solution into our pediatric surgical areas," commented Patricia
Silverman, Business Systems Leader for the Operation Rooms. "Through its
use of RFID technology, the solution delivers a simple to use system for
our busy clinical staff that creates a highly automated process to help
us manage our tissue effectively."
To demonstrate the capabilities of iRISecure and other solutions
used in the perioperative care setting, Mobile Aspects will be
exhibiting at the 57th Annual Congress for the Association of
periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). The event exhibition will be
held March 15-17 in Denver, Colorado.
